HI all
In this machine I am using Vista Ultimate

I maintain a number of legacy programs in VB6/6. When I start VB6 I now get
a message 'Preparing to install' . The message gives me no clue as to what
it is preparing to install.

The machine hangs on this message seemingly indefinitely, but it did
finally produce a message saying my Install Server was not working. It hangs
similarly when I click the Cancel button on the message..
I can close the VB6 Window but the VB6 processs remains active until I close
it using Task Manager.

I have reinstalled VB 6 and SP6. That has not helped. I would be grateful
for some advice on where to go from here to get rid of the problem.

I remember something similar occuring under XP occasionally. The problem was
usually cleared by reinstalling the product that it said it was installing

One option is format the machine and install once again ,
but before installing if u have the domain than login with any domain user
and log off ,
it will copy profile, and works once again.
