Discussion:
filename length error encountered for short filenames in windows X

I have recently had a problem using windows explorer to move/copy existing
files with valid names and quite short length filenames (over 9 characters
long and less than 30 characters) Explorer now will only let me move/copy
files less than 9 characters, otherwise get "invalid filename or lenght"
error message

Does anyone know why this is happening, or where I can download a fix for
this?

You might want to try a windows newsgroup. This one is for
VB6.
